The Sims 4 has unveiled two fresh DLC Kits, one of which is a collaboration with renowned Custom Content creator SixamCC. These Kits will be available for purchase and download in less than a week. A recent roadmap for The Sims 4 hinted at upcoming features, including these two Kits, a unique in-game event, a comprehensive Expansion Pack, and ongoing free updates for the life simulation game. Until now, only the Kits’ names were disclosed.
EA has introduced the Storybook Nursery and Artist Studio Kits, both set to release on all platforms on September 19, just a week after this official announcement. The names of these Kits, initially revealed in the Sims 4 roadmap, gave players a general idea of what to anticipate, but EA’s latest announcement provides further valuable details.
The Sims 4 Storybook Nursery Kit, developed in collaboration with SixamCC—celebrated within the Sims community for their Custom Content—aims to create spaces for the youngest Sims that blend sophistication with whimsy. This addition enhances a previously underserved age group in the game. Meanwhile, the Artist Studio Kit is designed to nurture the creative talents of Sims, allowing them to express their artistic skills.
Sims 4 Storybook Nursery & Artist Studio Kits Enable Players to Craft Personalized Spaces
Expected Cost: $5
While EA’s announcement didn’t specify a price, the Storybook Nursery and Artist Studio Kits are likely to be priced at $4.99 each upon release, consistent with the pricing of other Kits previously added as DLC for The Sims 4. True to Sims 4 Kit tradition, each Kit focuses on a specific room type, enhancing spaces that have historically been underdeveloped in the game’s official content.
Approximately a year and a half ago, The Sims 4 transformed babies from mere objects into interactive characters with a significant update to the youngest Sim age group. The Storybook Nursery Kit builds upon these improvements, concentrating exclusively on environments designed to enrich the lives of newborns, infants, and toddlers. SixamCC released a video on their YouTube channel discussing the Storybook Nursery Kit, showcasing the diverse options players will have for designing a nursery, ranging from Victorian-inspired elegance to modern pastel comfort.
In contrast, the Artist Studio Kit is likely to appeal to a broader array of age groups, offering Sims a dedicated space to explore their artistic passions. Whether it’s a painting studio or a carpenter’s workshop featuring the new woodworking table, players can immerse their Sims in a variety of creative tools. According to EA, these include “a variety of brushes, colorful paint cans, and new inspiring still-life objects that Sims can paint from reference or draw creativity from.”
These two Kits add to the extensive collection of post-launch content, contributing to the ever-growing cost of The Sims 4, despite its base game shifting to a free-to-play model. However, Kits provide players with an opportunity to acquire desired official content in smaller segments, supporting the game as they anticipate the forthcoming Sims 5. The announcement and swift release of the Storybook Nursery and Artist Studio Kits is a pleasant surprise, particularly as The Sims 4 prepares for the major release of the Life and Death Expansion Pack in October.
