Transforming Starfield with Fan-Made Mods
Introducing the Galactic Highway Network Mod
A new fan-created modification for Starfield has emerged just before the launch of the Shattered Space DLC, offering players the ability to drive on custom roadways and park the newly introduced Rev-8 vehicle. The Rev-8, unveiled at Gamescom 2024, became instantly available with a free update, provided players could afford 25,000 credits.
The Galactic Highway Network mod, crafted by TheMilkArtist, posits that every vehicle in the game deserves a proper infrastructure. Available on Nexus Mods, this mod enhances player experience by introducing features that make traversing the world quicker, simpler, and more enjoyable. A notable addition is a large loop around New Atlantis, complete with parking facilities near The Lodge. Players can also access two vehicle lifts connecting to an upper highway in New Atlantis. Furthermore, other locations like Akila City, Cydonia, Gagarin, Neon, and Hopetown have been equipped with parking spaces, trails, and new roads that integrate seamlessly with existing ones, facilitating easier travel.
The mod’s creator succinctly explains:
“We now have vehicles in Starfield, but no infrastructure to use them in the more civilized parts of the game world. This mod opens up a new way to explore and get around each city by adding a network of roads to most major cities in Starfield.”
Starfield Mods: Revitalizing the RPG Experience
Enhancing the Base Game
Since its release, Starfield has faced criticism over bugs, glitches, and gameplay concerns. However, fan-made mods have kept the community engaged and eager to explore new possibilities within the game. While some argue that players abandoned the game prematurely, others believe it fell short of Bethesda’s reputation. Nonetheless, this particular mod enhances immersion and injects a touch of realism into the game.
Starfield: Shattered Space Deep Dive Reveals New Scary Locations, Story, & Creatures
Although the addition of roadways and vehicle lifts might seem minor, it infuses Starfield with vitality, especially since the inclusion of a vehicle was a long-standing fan request. This isn’t the only mod for the Rev-8; multiple mods have been created to fine-tune or customize the vehicle’s appearance to keep it fresh and exciting. In general, mods for Starfield have added intriguing elements, such as the Sand Worm mod with its Dune-inspired creatures, or those that facilitate easier navigation of New Atlantis.
As a fan of quality-of-life improvements, the Galactic Highway Network mod, though modest, is impactful. Immersion is a highly valued aspect for RPG enthusiasts, and the vibrant modding community is instrumental in sustaining and enhancing games. Despite some challenges in downloading and implementing Starfield mods, they add enough intrigue to retain player interest, even if the game initially lacked the expected level of detail.
