A newly unveiled Pokémon Trading Card Game card showcases a unique version of the dragon trainer Lisia alongside her Altaria. Players will have a slim chance of acquiring this rare illustrated version of the Paradise Dragona card. This card serves as an alternative to Lisia’s Appeal, maintaining the same effect by allowing players to switch in one of their opponent’s benched Basic Pokémon and apply the “confused” status to it.
First spotted on PokéBeach, the card features a vibrant full-card illustration of Lisia, the dragon Pokémon trainer, reaching out towards the viewer with a playful wink. In the background, Ali, her Altaria, is prominently displayed. The illustration emphasizes the duo’s pop-idol charisma, with Lisia’s teal hair and pose drawing parallels to a Pokémon version of Hatsune Miku. This resemblance is fitting, considering the card’s artists, Nabusawa and Mochipuyo, also create art for BanG Dream idols and voice actors.
Special Illustration Lisia Pokémon Card: Insufficient to Elevate New Set
Is It Merely a Tactic to Boost Sales?
This new card design comes on the heels of a leak that disclosed all 64 cards in the upcoming Pokémon TCG set. The set has faced criticism for its disappointing lack of Dragon Pokémon in a collection supposedly centered around dragons.
While Lisia is a Dragon-type Pokémon trainer, her inclusion might be attributed more to her widespread appeal than her training skills. She appears in the forthcoming Paradise Dragona set in Japan on a standard trainer card, a full art card, and on official Pokémon TCG merchandise. It’s anticipated to be part of the Surging Sparks set in the West.
New Pokémon TCG Cards Leak Is Great News For Fans Of The Gen 7 Games
Despite the special illustration card being crafted by a different artist and showcasing stunning artwork, it doesn’t significantly differ from the full-art version of Lisia’s Appeal. This has led some community members to question the genuine motive behind her inclusion as a rare card. Undoubtedly, Lisia’s allure as a young, female trainer is strong, possibly making her a focal point to entice fans into purchasing the deck.
The special illustration variant of Lisia’s Appeal is set to appear in the next Pokémon Trading Card Game card set release. Japan will receive these cards first when Paradise Dragona launches on September 13. It’s likely that all cards from this set will also be included in Surging Sparks when it debuts in the West on November 8.
