Uncanny X-Men Make a Retro Comeback with New Pinball Machine

The Uncanny X-Men Return to the Gaming Scene with New Stern Pinball Machine

The Uncanny X-Men have long been adapted into various gaming formats, but their latest foray into tabletop gaming is set to captivate the hearts of ardent fans nostalgic for the days of arcade games and premium pinball experiences. Although the X-Men have made a significant impact in cinemas with their blockbuster film series, they’ve been surprisingly absent from the gaming scene. This is primarily due to Marvel’s focus on integrating characters that align with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the tide is turning as Professor Xavier’s team gradually reemerges into the limelight.

Stern Pinball has recently revealed its upcoming premium cabinet, which will be centered around the X-Men, particularly drawing inspiration from the iconic 1981 storylines “Days of Future Past” and “Mind out of Time.” The Uncanny X-Men Pinball game is packed with beloved characters such as Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm, Colossus, Beast, Rogue, Gambit, Nightcrawler, and many other cherished heroes and allies. Stern Pinball describes the table as having a “unique layout” featuring a variety of crossing shots and ramps that create “distinct trajectories,” ensuring an engaging gameplay experience.

The X-Men Are Back In Action

It’s About Time They Returned To The Fight

Stern Pinball is renowned for producing some of the finest pinball tables available, and the Uncanny X-Men machine upholds this reputation. The game introduces a brand-new Danger Room design that offers a high-risk, high-reward opportunity for players aiming to score big. In keeping with the “Days of Future Past” theme, the table includes a mechanically articulated Sentinel head that reacts to player performance, with the Premium and Limited Edition models featuring a Sentinel that emerges from the table to challenge the ball.

This new Uncanny X-Men pinball machine is accompanied by a custom soundtrack crafted by Charlie Benante, famed for his work with Anthrax and Pantera, and includes a video presentation of the “Days of Future Past” storyline in a dynamic motion graphics format. With only 811 units available, enthusiasts can choose between the Pro Edition for $6,999, the Premium Edition for $9,699, or the Limited Edition for $12,999. The Limited Edition boasts exclusive features such as a “Danger Room” inspired mirrored backglass, unique “Sentinel Armor” powder-coated pinball armor, and a bottom arch signed by the designer.

The Uncanny X-Men have recently experienced a resurgence in popularity, thanks in part to the successful animated series X-Men ’97. This continuation of the beloved 1990s show has introduced a new generation to these iconic characters, who have primarily been depicted in live-action films. With Deadpool and Wolverine seemingly concluding Fox’s X-Men universe, fans are eagerly anticipating how the MCU will integrate these cherished mutants.
