Unlisted YouTube Video Fuels PS5 Pro Rumors

A user on X (formerly known as Twitter), Wario64, shared a link to an unlisted YouTube video from PlayStation. Initially titled “PS5 Pro,” according to a screenshot from Wario64, the video’s title has since been altered. Given Wario64’s generally reliable reputation, this has intensified speculation that PlayStation’s upcoming Technical Presentation could indeed reveal the new console model. The original report from Screen Rant about the presentation’s announcement continues below.

Following a lengthy period of speculation, PlayStation might soon reveal its PlayStation 5 Pro. It’s common for console generations to have a mid-cycle refresh, often resulting in a slimmer model or a more powerful variant. With the PS5 receiving a smaller, modular redesign last year, the focus naturally shifted to when Sony might introduce a more powerful “Pro” version.

According to an announcement on the official PlayStation X account, a Technical Presentation will be held by the PS5’s Lead Architect, Mark Cerny, on September 10 at 8:00 am PT. Unlike previous showcases and State of Plays, this presentation will focus on technical aspects rather than games, with the PS5 logo and the tagline “The Journey Continues” strongly hinting at a reveal of new hardware, potentially the PS5 Pro.

The live stream will be accessible on the PlayStation YouTube channel, where viewers can set a reminder to tune in as it begins.

Sony Might Have Already Unveiled The PS5 Pro’s Design

PlayStation’s 30th Anniversary Celebrations Featured A New PS5 Design

Reports have long suggested that the PS5 Pro is on the horizon, with developers already working to ensure game compatibility with the new hardware. Although there have been varying reports on the technical specifications—ranging from minor enhancements to significant upgrades—several images of the purported new console surfaced last month.

Dealabs, known for its accuracy in leaks, shared an image believed to be of the PS5 Pro. While these images could have been dismissed prior to an official announcement, Sony might have quietly confirmed their authenticity during the PlayStation 30th Anniversary celebration on September 5. A post on the PlayStation Blog included a main image featuring the PlayStation logo and several devices from the brand’s history. Notably, it showed a PS5 design identical to the alleged PS5 Pro leak, featuring multiple stripes in the center of the outer plates. The existing 2023 PS5 model only has a single stripe as part of its modular design.

With less than a day until the showcase, players hopefully won’t have to wait long for more concrete details about Sony’s next console, including how it compares to the current PlayStation 5 model. Given the timing of the presentation, it’s also plausible that the console’s launch is imminent, possibly in time for the holiday season.
