Sony Faces Backlash for Lack of Advance Notice on Upcoming PlayStation Plus Game Removals

Sony Faces Criticism for Lack of Transparency in PS Plus Game Removals

Sony has refreshed the PlayStation Plus catalog, announcing the departure of four additional games set to exit the service in September 2024. Monthly, Sony curates its games catalog—currently boasting an impressive roster of over 400 titles—by adding and removing various games. These titles are accessible without extra cost to all PS Plus Premium and Extra members.

Reddit user ConnectionWorried544 identified the games leaving PS Plus: *Unpacking*, *13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim*, *Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2*, and *Planet Coaster: Console Edition*. These games appeared in the “Last Chance to Play” section of PS Plus without any prior notification from Sony.

Subscribers will lose access to all four games by September 17, joining 11 other titles departing the PS Plus Games Catalog this month.

No Heads-Up on Departing PS Plus Games in PlayStation Store

New Subscribers Left Uninformed

Sony’s habit of listing games for removal throughout the month has drawn criticism from fans, as the sudden disappearances don’t allow enough time for players to enjoy them. Many users wish Sony would consolidate announcements about departing games, providing notice at least a month or two in advance. Some accuse Sony of quietly removing games, only to offer them for sale shortly after, forcing players to purchase titles they were unable to complete.

The complete roster of games leaving the PlayStation Plus Games Catalog includes:

Currently, the newly added “Last Chance to Play” titles lack any notification for potential subscribers. In contrast, other games scheduled for removal from PS Plus display a warning on the PlayStation Store, indicating that while the game is included with a subscription, the “Offer ends 9/17/2024 12:00 PM EDT.” This warning is absent for the four new games, which still appear as part of the catalog without any indication of their impending unavailability. Curiously, *Star Ocean: The Divine Force* also lacks this warning, likely due to an oversight, as other *Star Ocean* titles are being removed this month.

PS Plus September 2024: Every Essential, Extra, & Premium Game Coming This Month

There may be additional titles announced soon for removal from PlayStation Plus. Until September 17, 2024, PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers have the opportunity to play these games. Meanwhile, some new titles have been introduced to PS Plus this month, including the day-one release of *Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions*.
